THE DEEP WELL PROJECT

Reaching deep for neighbors in need

Deep Well Project recently celebrated the 50th Anniversary of its founding.  A 28-minute documentary film premiered on March 28, 2023 to honor the milestone.

Deep Well’s story is tightly meshed with the history of Hilton Head, starting over 50 years ago when many island residents didn’t have safe drinking water and needed deeper, safe wells.  As the Island developed and changed, so did the needs of its residents.   Deep Well continues to evolve to meet the challenges of our community, thanks to the support of our volunteers and donors.

We invite you to take a step back in time and hear the voices of many people who have seen things on Hilton Head that can be hard to fathom.  The film is a feast for the eyes of our beautiful Lowcountry landscape, an homage to our founder Charlotte Heinrichs and a balm for the soul showing the gentle power of people caring for one another with dignity and compassion.
