The combination of the extreme cold weather, the usual down side of our resort economy, and the state of our general economy means that Deep Well has received more calls than ever for basic needs. Our most common requests at this time of year are from those who can’t afford to pay their bills due to cut hours on their jobs.

But just a few weeks ago we received a call from a 59 year old lady who has a difficult life year ‘round, during good economic times and bad. Susan was right out of the hospital, suffering from a bad infection. She had 6 prescriptions and no money to pay for them. We were able to pay for all 6 prescriptions, and we sent Susan home with a good supply of groceries.

Susan found herself in the bad situation that so many in our country are facing at this time. Our country has some of the best health care in the world, yet there are too many citizens who cannot access it due to financial concerns. We are fortunate to live in such a caring community that will not allow our residents to go without the medicine they need to get well. Generous donations make it possible for Susan and so many others to get the medications needed to bring them back to good health.
