Social Services Deep Well encourages independence and works with our clients to establish a plan to see beyond their immediate needs. We help them make an effort to help themselves. We steadfastly resist setting up cycles of dependency. It is not in the spirit of our charter. Instead, we try to develop a partnership of shared responsibility, with the ultimate goal of becoming independent and self-sufficient. 62,000 meals and more Deep Well’s outreach programs regularly provide: • Food for the hungry • Stopgap assistance with rent, water and utility bills • Household furnishings for families who suffer catastrophic loss or who are without funds • Transportation to clinics and governmental offices for those unable to arrange their own • Temporary shelter for the homeless • The “Children’s Program” provides basic needs: medicine, clothing, child care and school supplies for island children in need • Thanksgiving meals • Christmas dinners • Christmas presents for families who cannot afford them |
