One example is Ramona, a 56-year-old woman who had always worked and been self-sufficient until a very serious illness forced her to stop working. She knew that her health decline would soon make a wheelchair a necessity. Deep Well owns 2 wheelchair lifts, a moving platform that can transport a person in a wheelchair from the ground to the entrance to the home.  Our Livable Housing volunteers moved the lift from the previous location, where the elderly woman had passed away, to Ramona’s home. They poured a concrete pad, built a deck, and installed the lift. We also noticed other needs of the mobile home, and our volunteers repaired the front door, replaced 6 windows, and installed a ceiling fan. Deep Well will be on hand to help Ramona with other housing needs throughout these difficult years for her.
