And, of course, thanks to all the many private donors to Deep Well whose contributions are so critical throughout the year. ___________________________________________________ Birdies For Charity: New Way to Donate to Deep WellYou may already be familiar with this long-standing program of the Heritage Classic Foundation. You simply make a pedge based on the number of birdies that will be made at this year's RBC Heritage, taking place April 15-21, 2013. Once the tournament is over, the birdies are tallied and a pedge bill will be sent to you. Once payment is received, Deep Well will receive the full amount of your pledge, and others. Last year, for example, 1,228 birdies were made by the PGA Tour golfers. That means, if you had pledged just a penny per birdie, you would have ended up donating $12.28 to Deep Well. A 5 cent pledge would have meant a donation of $61.40. If you wish to participate with a pedge, e-mail us at dwproject@hargray.com and we'll e-mail back to you an easy-to-complete form, along with directions on submitting it. Sources of Funding and Major DonorsThe Deep Well Project, a tax exempt non-profit organization is blessed with donations from many sources. With the aid of our local newspaper, The Island Packet, we hold an Annual Christmas Appeal that raises about 20% of our annual income with donations coming primarily from individuals and corporations. A further 20% comes from individual bequests to Deep Well. General Donations amount to about 30% of our income and come from a multitude of sources, primarily donations by individuals, foundations, religious and civic groups, businesses, and special event activities by volunteers. In-kind Donations of food, furniture and fixtures, clothing and supplies and the many other items total about another 20% of our income. Major donors include Piggly Wiggly, Panera's Bread Company, Second Helpings and their donors, Truffles Restaurants and others Deep Well is proud to be an United Way Agency. In addition, we receive grants from such organizations as The Bargain Box, The Celebrity Golf Tournament, The Long Cove Community Endowment Fund, Friends of Callawassie, Saint Francis Thrift Shop and others. Finally, although not valued in monetary terms on the books, but priceless to us, Deep Well could not function without the over 11,000 hours of hard work donated annually by our dedicated enthusiastic volunteers. They use their own vehicles to pick up and deliver food and their own tools to repair houses. They are a wonderful fun group. We are ever grateful for each hour they so freely give.
